Instructors at Extra Innings

Extra Innings offers individualized, year round professional baseball and softball instruction. Our staff uses a uniform step-by-step teaching system to encourage positive progress with all our students.

The Extra Innings staff features former and current professional players, college all-stars, and area college and high school coaches.

Matt Blaney

Matt Blaney - Extra Innings Instructor

Matt played his college baseball at Villanova University. After his junior season, he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers and pitched for the Boston Red Sox and Anaheim Angels before retiring to scout for the Cincinnati Reds. More recently, Matt was Manager of Florida Operations for the Washington Nationals before joining Extra Innings. He will instruct in hitting, pitching, fielding, and catching.

 
Ryan Williams

Ryan Williams – Extra Innings Instructor

Ryan started his collegiate career at St. Anselm College where he was captain and an All-American as a pitcher. He finished his college ball at Umass – Lowell. Currently Ryan plays professionally for the Brockton Rox, an Independent team and part of the Can Am League. He will instruct in hitting, pitching, fielding, and catching.

 
Tracy Valentine

Tracy Valentine – Extra Innings Instructor

Tracey went to Bowling Green University where he was an All-American. He then went onto play with the Montreal Expos and was teammates to Vladimir Guerrero and Orlando Cabrera. He also played for the Waterbury Spirit which is an Independent team in the Northern League. He will teach hitting and pitching mechanics.

 
Chuck Klee

Chuck Klee – Extra Innings Instructor

Chuck is a former player at Cardinal Gibbons High and was drafted in the 10th round of the Amateur Draft by the Chicago White Sox. He played for 5 years with the White Sox and even was invited to participate in Major League Spring Training. He was then drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the Rule 5 Draft and played with them until he finished his career in Independent ball in the Northern League. He will teach fielding and hitting.

 
Mark Montimurro

Mark Montimurro – Extra Innings Instructor

Mark joins Extra Innings from Taravella High School where he is currently the head varsity softball coach. He won the Florida State Championship in 2003 and 2004. He was also the runner up in 2005. Mark was named the Sun Sentinel’s Coach of the Year in 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2005. The Florida Dairy Farmers named him the Coach of the Year in 2004. He will instruct in softball hitting and fielding.

 
Kelly McLaughlin

Kelly McLaughlin – Extra Innings Instructor

Kelly joins Extra Innings as an inductee of her alma mater’s Hall of Fame at the University of Albany where she received numerous awards for her stellar achievement. She was the Co-Female Athlete of the Year in 1999 after she won the ECAC conference title. She was also the conference’s Most Valuable Player. That same year she finished her season among the nation’s top 20 in strikeouts and earned run average. At one point, Kelly threw 42 consecutive innings without allowing a run. Kelly is also the former head coach at Coral Springs Charter High School. She will be instructing in pitching, hitting, and fielding.

 
Ryan Combs

Ryan Combs – Extra Innings Instructor

A native of Indiana, Ryan joins Extra Innings as the head baseball coach at Lake Worth Christian High School. He has personally coached and instructed many current professional baseball players. Before becoming the head coach at Lake Worth, Ryan was the Assistant Head Coach at a college in Indiana. He has a wide knowledge of all positions and will instruct in pitching, hitting, and fielding.

 
Graham Taylor

Graham Taylor – Extra Innings Instructor

Graham is a seasonal instructor at Extra Innings. He is currently pitching in the Florida Marlins organization in their AA level. An All-American pitcher at Miami University (OH), Ryan holds numerous Mid-Atlantic Conference pitching records. After being drafted in the 10th round by the Marlins, he has been the pitcher of the month on 3 occasions, he has made the All-Star team in all 3 professional seasons and he was the Marlins Organizational Pitcher of the Year in 2007. He will instruct in pitching and hitting. Currently he is only available during the off season months (Nov – Mar).
